Judi Vernau is an information architect who has worked in the area of information design and dissemination for over 30 years.
From the mid 1980s onwards she has focussed on the structuring and delivery of electronic information, and from the mid 1990s particularly on metadata and taxonomy. Judi has experience in all aspects of the information lifecycle from content creation, through editing, storage and findability, to dissemination and disposition. She has designed information architectures for encyclopedias, dictionaries, journals, manuals, textbooks, directories, external web sites, intranets and collaborative environments (including SharePoint), and developed and critiqued metadata frameworks, ontologies, taxonomies and business classification schemes for a wide variety of clients in government and the private and third sectors.
Recent UK clients include the Financial Control Authority, The Stationery Office, the British Council, eBay and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. She has also worked for clients in Hong Kong, New Zealand, and various European countries.
Judi is chair of ISKO UK and a member of AIIM and IRMS. She is the author of several papers and has frequently presented at industry events. In 2012 she was a visiting lecturer in Information Architecture at City University, London.
