An integrated approach to information management
Business drivers
Our client was a European independent inter-governmental organisation who needed an impartial party to provide a strategic, holistic, and integrated approach to information and document management utilising new and developing technologies.
Key requirements
Metataxis was approached to take on the role of trusted partner for this organisation to assess their existing information governance and strategy against industry standards and best practice. This included:
- An independent assessment of the Information Strategy
- Assessment and recommendations for change management and transformation plans relating to information management
- Assessment of Information Management Frameworks and Implementation Plans
As well as this, we were required to provide communications support for presenting the Information Management Framework to senior management and non-information management professionals.

Governance document review
We reviewed and contributed to a wide range of documents including existing policy and strategy documents to ensure they were consistent, practical and met industry best practice standards.
Stakeholder workshops
We facilitated several workshops with a range of stakeholders to evaluate and validate Information Strategy content.
User surveys
We conducted user surveys to understand user needs across the organisation.
Maturity assessment
Metataxis analysed the information governance maturity of the organisation against an Information Management Maturity Model.
Information management framework
Metataxis developed an Information Management Framework to support the delivery of the Information Management strategy.
Communications support
We provided support in formulating project messages for non-information management professionals and for senior management.
Business benefits
As a result of the work completed by Metataxis, the Information Management Strategy was presented to, and approved by, the organisation’s internal steering committee. The client is now ready to undertake detailed implementation planning and set up an information management improvement programme, including replacing the obsolete document management solution.
The Information Management Framework will ensure that our client’s information assets are managed in a consistent and logical way through a standard set of principles, guidelines and criteria. The Information Management Framework defines the information governance and strategy structure meaning the client has a fully integrated approach to rolling out all new Framework work streams.
