Enhancing usability, governance and stakeholder engagement with robust information management framework

Metataxis is delighted to have supported a well-known, national charity in designing and deploying a comprehensive information and data management framework to improve data governance, usability and stakeholder engagement across the organisation.

The core foundation of the project was the development of a robust information and data governance framework and data domain model. This included creating a data asset register, data domain model, data dictionary and taxonomies. Together, these components are enabling this not-for-profit organisation to better collect, access, and use its data, in order to maximise value, reduce duplication and improve stakeholder engagement.

Working in partnership with the charity’s team, Metataxis defined clear roles and responsibilities, established a set of data management principles and introduced high level processes to standardise how they handle information and asset management.

This new governance model has now been successfully deployed across the organisation, ensuring every stakeholder understands their role and how to manage and govern their data, including ways to update taxonomies and apply retention rules appropriately.

The charity required a system to help them manage their complex data domain models and defined data entities, and Metataxis supported them in this endeavour.  After defining detailed evaluation criteria and assessing several suppliers, we recommended Ellie as the optimal solution based on functionality and cost-effectiveness. Metataxis then supported the implementation and migration of the domain model, data entities and associated taxonomies into this powerful, new platform.

The governance and domain model work was an integral part of the charity’s overall data transformation programme. We also supported the implementation of a new CRM and ensured, going forward, all data in the new CRM supports their ambition of becoming a true data driven organisation.

Noeleen Schenk, Director at Metataxis, explains:

“We are thrilled to have supported this valued charity build the foundations to manage their data compliantly and realise its full potential. Charities operate in complex environments and are responsible for vast amounts of data. With a new governance framework, and modern, fit for purpose CRM solution, this nonprofit can be confident its information is well governed, ready to support staff, fundraisers, and beneficiaries more effectively.”

A clear governance framework is essential for any successful information (unstructured) or data (structured) project. Metataxis partners work with a wide range of clients to introduce or refine structures, semantics, processes and systems that underpin information and data management, collaboration, findability, and re-use.
