Getting to grips with the AI revolution

Generative Artificial Intelligence, or Gen AI, is a type of artificial intelligence. It produces various types of new, original content, such as text, images, videos, audio and other data, by learning patterns from existing data, typically in response to a user’s prompt or request.

What’s the difference between Generative AI and Traditional AI?

Unlike traditional AI, which analyses data patterns to classify or predict, Generative AI uses deep large language models (such as LLMs and GANs) to generate new data based on those learned patterns, rather than just predict, ultimately mimicking human creativity.

What are LLMs?

LLMs, or large learning models, are essentially vast amounts of data harvested from the public domain. Armed with this data, Gen AI systems subsequently learn the patterns and structure of this data to generate new content that has similar characteristics.

Popular Gen AI models include ChatGPT for text generation, DALL-E for image generation, and Microsoft Copilot, which works with your enterprise content – and you may already be using one or all of these.

How do you know if your Gen AI solution will deliver the best results?

As more and more organisations adopt AI solutions in the workplace, how do you know if your Gen AI solution is accessing all your data to deliver the best results?

Let’s face it, organisational data is diverse, massive in size, and exists in multiple formats, such as paper, text files, videos, search engine queries, customer reviews, chatbots and social media and other types of unstructured data.

Typically, unstructured data comprises up to 80% of enterprise data. And let’s not forget all your structured data – which is all also sprawled across locations and silos.

Yet to maximise the value of Gen AI, all your information must be accessible and usable.

So, how do you get started with Gen AI?

It can be daunting, complex and time-consuming to consolidate, process, label, clean, and protect your information to unlock the full potential of your data for use in AI models. And we know that addressing the above is essential to realise the benefits that AI can offer.

That’s where we come in. As information management experts, we can help you get your data AI ready, so you can maximise the value of your AI investments.
