New information architecture drives usability, findability and compliance for UK Central Government

Metataxis is thrilled to continue to support our Central Government client with Phase 2 of their programme of work to improve how they manage their information and knowledge. This second phase of the project builds on the earlier work we undertook to develop and deliver their information and knowledge management strategy.

Phase 2 will entail a full content audit of the department. A content audit provides organisations with an essential overview of their information environment – what is held, where is it stored, who owns it, who uses it, who is it shared with, and any risks associated with the asset. This exercise will provide us with a clear understanding of the current information landscape across the department and is a crucial step to enable confident decision making regarding the governance and management of information assets.

Following the content audit, our team of knowledge management experts will develop an information architecture and an information governance framework to manage and structure the agency’s knowledge and information going forward.

The information architecture framework will provide the foundations to support the management, consistency, and interoperability of information within systems to enable efficient usability, findability and compliance.  This will inform and guide the full implementation. The information governance framework will then put in place the necessary components that support ongoing adoption and compliance of information management initiatives and improvements.

And in the third phase of the work, Metataxis will implement all the changes to existing systems architecture and governance based on the new frameworks.

Comments Noeleen Schenk, Director at Metataxis:

“All our project work will be supported by a range of change activities, training and guidance to embed the changes and new ways of working for all staff.  This is vital, as armed with improved access to the right information, the client will be able to become more efficient in delivering key services to colleagues, customers and UK citizens.”
