The human-powered value of good design in information systems
Taking place in London from 14-15 April 2026, the annual Taxonomy Bootcamp 2026 is billed as Europe’s number 1 taxonomy event. Dedicated to taxonomies, ontologies, knowledge graphs, metadata and more, Taxonomy Boot Camp London is where the community comes together to spark ideas, share solutions and get ahead of the curve. And Metataxis will be there!
Visitors can learn how to design, manage, and scale taxonomies that drive real business value – from improving search and content management, to powering AI and machine learning. You’ll leave with practical tools, new connections, and fresh inspiration to take back to your team.
As part of the Components of Successful Semantic Projects track, our very own Marc Stephenson, Director and Data Guru here at Metataxis, will be hosting an interactive workshop, “Why the world will always need information architecture.” His session takes place on 14 April from 14.30-15.30, where he will share the floor with Michele Ann Jenkins from Dovecot Studio.
This session will offer two perspectives on the human-powered value of good design in information systems. Michele will present a nontechnical overview of the decision points that might arise in designing a taxonomy, including structural principles, types of properties, and interoperability considerations, while Marc reveals common information architecture threads across many recent trends in tech and AI and makes the clarion call for the value of IA in delivering flexible systems.
